Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

I put in to be on the trial a few weeks back, and now I've just seen this pop up in my questions section in the member section.
The customer's line was reported as ceased/migrated on 23/04/2009.
No additional CBC Usage Charges were found on the account.
Other charges remaining on the account:
- Cessation Charge : £20.00

Please ensure that any charges on the account are still valid, should be reclaimed now or otherwise written off. If the cease is part of the house move process this charge will not apply.
TIA

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

I think that means you should now be on the trial. According to the system's "logic" your maxDSL service has been "ceased" upon transfer to 21CN and the message results from that. You shouldn't be charged the cancellation fee that is stated since it's only a pretend cancel.
I expect a staff member will confirm this tomorrow.

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

Hi David,
That would be good, thank you for clearing that up, but I've only noticed a 200kb speed increase, will it creep up gradually?
Sorry if that's a daft question, just not too sure what to expect here to be honest.
Thank you for answering my question and calming my nerves.

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

If by "speed increase" you mean the result from a run on a speed tester such as http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/, until you have a steady sync speed and properly set IP Profile such tests don't mean a lot. Please be aware that the first 10 days are a training period while the MSAN/DLM at the exchange learns about your line characteristics.
Sync speeds are the best indicator to show changes. Please could you post your router stats (sync speeds, noise margins and attenuations, downstream and upstream)? The router operating mode (ADSL2/ITU G.992.3 or ADSL2+/ITU G.992.5) is also of interest.

Hi David,
Thank you for that, if I do a speed test, I get 200kb down and 100kb up that's using the Plusnet speedtest tool, but if I look at the stats on my router, this is what I see.

Noise Margin (Down):6  (Up):6

Your router is connected using standard ADSL. The ADSL line type currently is G,DMT you need it to be ADSL2+ or G.992.5 Does your modem/router support ADSL2+

That don't look right to me. G.DMT seems to indicate you're still synching on ADSL1. But then how is the UpStream speed > 448 ?.
Your line's got a pretty high attenuation.
Edit: Itsme types faster than me.

@misterW
ADSL Max (or up to 8Mb) had a provision for the Up stream to rise to 844.  You could have the 500K (488) cap removed and Plusnet did offer this service for a flat fee per month.

@talkcomp, Yes, I realise that but would you have been paying the extra for a line with that performance ?

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

Hi there,
The router is a Linksys AG041, so as far as I'm aware it does support ADSL2, can anyone tell me otherwise though?
As the googling that I did seemed to suggest that it did.

@misterW - yes I personally was.  I use a SlingBox, so the greater the streaming (Up stream) the better.  Now with 1023, getting excellent video.

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

Hi there,
As David says, the ticket detailing the cease isn't something to worry about. It's due to your normal ADSL service 'ceasing' when switching to 21CN. We won't be taking the charge it outlines as you still have an active service with us.

Hi Chris,
That's great news, thank you. Do you have any idea as to when this will be enabled at all, and is there any chance at all anyone at PN know if the Linksys AG041 is ADSL2 compatable?
Thank you once again

I believe it doesn't support ITU-T G.992.5 unless a firmware upgrade provides it.
Edit: ...and having had a look it doesn't appear there is one Sad

Re: Please let me know this is normal, kinda freaking out here!!!

Well found Strat,
That info tends to imply that its not ADSL2 compatible, it needs to support G.992.3 for ADSL2 and G.992.5 for ADSL2+.
