Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

Hmmm yeah i just checked my router there are a few errors
but i think i'd rather just have my ping lower than better speed tbh
also is 21CN enabled on my exchange yet ? as samknows says its enabled but then says 31/03/2011 but PN says sept 2010
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NSASH
cheers.

Hi Alxns,
Your exchange is enabled for ADSL2+ but bearing in mind the errors you may be opening up a can of worms moving on to it.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

You don't go back to ADSL Max, you go back to ADSL1 on 21CN which still goes through the 21CN DLM.
If you are having issues and don't anticipate getting a significant increase in speed I'd STRONGLY recommend sticking with 20CN until BT get 21CN working properly!

HI Alxns,
I have placed the order for you. It normally takes 7 days to take effect.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

Ok thats fine
As one of the inherent advantages of ADSL2+ is the speed boost attainable on longer/poorer phone lines i will hope for something better but if not well thats the risk you take guess
i will update here on the 8th or 9th  to let you know if anything has changed
thanks.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php predicts a small increase
I'm damned sure I wouldn't take the risk with the current state of 21CN!
Alxns: You need to be aware that the 21CN DLM seems to be far more aggressive, so if you do get errors on the line, and don't have interleaving put on your target noise margin will shoot straight up.

tbh jelv I agree with you but if he knows the pitfalls it's his decision.

I'd realised your view:

I was trying to back you up as he'd not seemed to appreciate what you were saying. At least he is fully aware of the risks now.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

Yes i do know the risks
but due to my line can barely handle 3.5 mbps never mind the predicted 4.5mbps from kitz
i'm really hoping it will give me more lee way with errors also the upload speed is a must for me in general
but thanks for the concern guys.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

The DLM on 21CN gives you less lee way with errors. I'm betting you are going to end up on a banded profile.

Re: Please Raise Fault To BT

i'll let the netgear run for a day or 2 and see how it gets on just to see if it makes much difference after a while see if i get any drops ect.
