The sky did not fall as far as I could tell, annoyed I was though.
Nope, no self denial, PN said they are thinking again when this work should be done, there was no expectation on their part that users would be aware of the changes happening on the Ellacoya's, I suspect they have done similar jobs before and it passed us without notice too.
