Phone menu and service status line

During the week, I had a problem with my ADSL connection, so phoned the service status line (+44 1142965178). This directed me to the general customer support line, and I was given 6 options. The 6th option was "Service Status", so I selected 6, and was returned to exactly the same main menu as before (still offering a 6th option of "Service Status").
Not having the business support number stored in my mobile, I selected 3 for "technical query" followed by 3 for "other". I then got a message saying that 3 isn't a valid choice and that I should hold for an advisor. I didn't want to wait 10 minutes on hold, so went home, and the ADSL connection was working fine the next morning.
Unless I'm being stupid (which has been known), the menu system needs a little bit of work on it.

Re: Phone menu and service status line

dont know where 114 296 5178 came from  the two normal numbers are 0114 296 5198 (0845 140 0200) Customer service and 0114 296 5188(0845 140 0080) for broadband faults

Re: Phone menu and service status line

I think that +44 1142965178 is the equivalent to 0845 002 0173 (see http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/using/settings.shtml and http://www.plus.net/features/news/june_newsletter.shtml).
Anyway, the menu system that I think needs looking at is the same as the one that was played when I called +44 1142965198.

I agree it does need looking at, and is actually something we're working on at the moment (improvements to the system as well as the usability of the IVR menu).

Thanks. I had to use Google to find out what IVR stands for, I've never come across that abbreviation before.
