Performance problems this evening...

I've noticed my connection is running slow this evening,  which correlates with a noticeable increase in ping times,  would I be right in assuming the underlying problem with the network is still unresolved?
I've gateway hopped from ptw-ag03 to ptn-ag02,  while it's help,  speeds are still below normal  (@75mbps)
In addition, from checking the history on the ping graphs, I've been getting a similar effects every day since the 17th March, is it possible to check if this concurs with the last time my router reconnected?

As Expected,  once things calm down,  speeds return to normal...

Re: Performance problems this evening...

I would say that the underlying problem at peak times has always been there, just not as noticeable as used to be. I normally play quake 3 on a server that I get a really stable 15ms ping (1ms up/down) but as soon as it hits certain peak times, the pings fluctuate from 15ms up to 25/30ms. I'm the only one using internet and only gaming when I do.
Most of the PlusNet's ping graphs looks the same at peak times, some with more or les variation than others. When all of them start to look practically flat with hardly any connection use, then we will be able to say that kind of problem is fixed.
I wouldn't trust speed tests pings as I always get 0ms on the London's and Milton Keynes servers at Speedtest.net. To check pings I always go to Pingtest.net or direct pings from the Command Prompt.
My ping graph is not as bad as yours at peak times anyways  Wink

No, that's resolved as far as we're concerned. It's best we look at your issue individually kmilburn. If it's not urgent I can see if Chris Pettitt can have a look next week and see if we can spot any exchange issues or faults. Otherwise I'f say log a fault if it's more urgent.

Re: Performance problems this evening...

Given the change that occured when I hopped gateways, I'd be suprised if it was an exchange issue, but you never know.
I'll keep an eye on performance,  to see how things go,  there's no urgency.
Could you (or someone) check the radius information for the last few reconnects prior to last night,  I'm curious how they correlate with the history of the ping charts.

Re: Performance problems this evening...

Thanks Adam,  that ties up with with noticeable packet loss on the graph for the 12th.

Changing gateway seems to have had the desired effect,  this was yesterdays ping graph, which looks alot healthier.
