Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

Last night looked a lot better on the Colombo host links. We understand maintenance was completed by our supplier as a result of our highlighting the issue to them.  It certainly does look like this particular issues was caused by a problem in the wholesale network.

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

I've noticed it appears to have cleared for me, and I didn't drop the "lossy" connection.

I can't see the problem on that graph?  What are you seeing?

Yeah, that looks more like it.  Is it affecting your speeds/browsing/gaming etc?

Just a bit, seeing 10Mbps down rather than my usual ~45

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

You're latency is quite high 'generally' for FTTC.
Have you had any issues with stability?

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

There's always been a hell of a lot of FEC errors on my line, never been able to convince anyone of a fault. No issues with stability

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

Have you raised it as a fault with PN before? It looks to me like you might have interleaving on.
Which exchange are you on? Any of these http://community.plus.net/exchange-information/ ?

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

I'm on the Dawlish (WWDAWL) exchange, not listed there. Didn't think slightly elevated latency could be classed as a fault? I'm not a gamer so don't care too much, I'm all for throughput gains though  Tongue

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

Its the significant variation in latency which is odd. (unless you are downloading or stressing your router?)
Check this fibre graph as a comparison:

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

How does your IP Profile compare to your estimates (https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/)? Have you seen a general decrease in your speeds?
If you're getting excessive errors on your line which is impacting your throughput performance, then I am sure it will be looked at as a fault - particularly if you are below your line estimates.

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

IP profile is within a mbps of the best estimate. I was the second person on my cabinet, lost about 15Mbps to crosstalk since then. Line's been fine aside from the recent peak time packet loss

Re: Peak time packet loss on ptw-bng01

Seeing packet loss again tonight, seemed to be resolved the past couple of evenings. Am I experiencing a different issue or has the original one not been fully resolved?
