PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi,
I've just swapped router (to a Tp Link 3600) but it appears that I didn't cleanly stop the previous PPP session.
Getting "Timeout waiting for PADO packets" for the last hour or so.
Can the session be reset from your side?
Many thanks

Re: PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi Peebles,
We've just attempted to release any ongoing PPP sessions but the response back showed this failed so could well indicate that there are no active PPP sessions to end. Would it be possible to retest with the previous hardware and see if you can establish a connection?

Thanks,
Adam C

Re: PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I have just installed the previous router (TP link 1043nd), but it's showing the same message in the log and can't establish a connection.
I've power cycled the modem as well and that's synced ok.

Re: PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi again Peebles,
Sorry to hear you're still seeing problems with this.
I'll get in touch with one of our experts and see if we can see anything on the gateways and attempt to arrange a manual kick of the session if present..

Thanks,

Re: PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi Peebles,
Following further investigation we have attempted another release of the PPP session, if this doesn't work when the only other way to clear this would be to remove all broadband devices from the line and leave them unplugged for at least an hour so the DSLAM sees that there is no equipment connected and clears the session.
We would suggest retrying the connection in 15 minutes and if this doesn't work then it will have to be an hour or more with the equipment removed from the line completely.

Thanks,
Adam C

Re: PPPoE session timeout issue (fibre)

Hi,
Have just now successfully connected (with the new router) and all appears to be working again.
Looks like the second attempt of the PPP session release worked.
Many thanks for your help and I'll do as advised (unplugging everything) if this ever happens again.
Cheers
