Re: PPP dropped unable to authenticate - 18.00 on 17th Sept 2014

I did notice one thing, I've reset my router to factory settings and the login has changed to not my username. I'm sure it showed me last time I had to do that.

Just to add to Linn's comment, please do not attempt to carry out a Factory Reset on your router, it's not required.

Can we please request that you power down your routers/modems and not attempt to re-connect for another 1-2 hours?

Are you serious? What, everybody, or just the people who can't reconnect?

Surely we don't need to power down the fttc modem!

Hi all,
Really sorry about this!
Our network engineers are working on fixing this issue now and they won't stop until it's resolved!
Can we please request that you power down your routers/modems and not attempt to re-connect for another 1-2 hours? We'll post updates to the service status as soon as we have any.

I think Linn means those who are unable to connect.
The gateways are completely mis-balanced.

Re: PPP dropped unable to authenticate - 18.00 on 17th Sept 2014

Please bear with us, as we've stated, we're working on the issue and we'll restore service as soon as possible.
If you power down your router, it will stop further failed attempts to authenticate with us, which can cause problems when trying to reconnect when everything is back up and running.
I appreciate it's frustrating - we're working on it.
Edit: Yes, just those who aren't able to reconnect.

Down? Again?! Are you serious?!
GOD!!!! This is RIDICULOUS!
According to the Service Status message we can expect an update at 2100hrs. Doesn't bode well that they think they won't have any answers for 2+ hours.
Pathetic service Plusnet. Truly pathetic.

Do not power down FTTC modem. Only the router!

Well this is an interesting exercise to see whether we can survive without the Internet. No, hang on, we're all posting about it here, so maybe not. Smiley The children are having a good old moan about not being able to do anything - I'd better not give them the password for my mobile hot-spot!

LOL! Work for Plusnet by any chance? A member of staff hiding behind a made up user account? I PAY PLUSNET FOR A SERVICE AND THEY DON'T PROVIDE IT! If you can't stand criticism, provide a better service.
