PN Pro - How many consoles

How many consoles could I expect to be able to run concurrently and still get a decent connection on a PN Pro package?
We've got 3 xbox 360s and a PS3 that could in theory be online at the same time, and I'm wondering whether
a) The connections will all be poor as it would be too much to expect any connection to withstand 4 consoles online
b) The 15Gb download limit would be hit quite quickly (I've no idea how much data online gaming uses - this line will be used purely for gaming as I have another unlimited package on a second phone line that can be used for general browsing, downloading etc).

Thanks.

It is going to depend more on what are you line stats, i.e. downstream and upstream sync speeds.
Are you willing to pay more for faster upstream sync speeds?
Do your consoles and games need to have ports forwarded? Or do the games and your router support UPnP to open and forward the ports as needed?
Much of this is outside of the control of PN!

Yes! Have put up with lag and rubbish connections on a 'free' BB package elsewhere for far too long already so if it means paying exta on top of the £20 a month Pro fees then I'd certainly consider it.
I do have the ports forwarded - but the router is set with UPnP enabled (I think...)

Re: PN Pro - How many consoles

i would add max preminum to maxdsl which will give you 832kbps upload instead of 448kbps and also slightly higher prioity on BTw's part of the network. this will insure your upload dosent get maxed out easily as when your upload gets maxed thats wen lag starts.
ive got 850kbps ish sync on the adsl2+ trial and and if sum ones uploading a file from the pc when am on the xbox i will lag like mad because the upload is gettin maxed.
also if you post your line stats we can give you an idea if switching off interleaving os a good idea this will lower your pings http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/frogstats.php

But does the console/game use UPnP for port forwarding too.

My PN connection doesn't go live until 10th August so my stats a the moment would be Talktalks so I'll leave this until I've actually moved over to PN. But I like the idea of maxdsl - I'll look into this as well, thanks Smiley

Re: PN Pro - How many consoles

if you do want to pay the extra £8 a month for the increased upload then you need to raise a ticket here http://portal.plus.net/wizard/?wizard_id=20 its abit misleading as its not a trial any more and hasnt been for ages.
if i remember right the payment for this add on has to be done on a card and not by direct debt and is billed every 3 months
( deleted jame's info as hes gone for 2 week pizza binge)

Re: PN Pro - How many consoles

If port fowarding is a problem, another way to solve this is for PN to provide you a block of IP addresses and then have your router assign those addresses to each console. It is a bit like having a DMZ setting for each of the consoles you own ... not sure many cheap/retail routers will do this though.
