Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Hi luke. Thanks for that. Today the disconnect early on was a ppp drop. The one at 7ish was a re sync that has uncapped the upload.  Again the line is relatively silent. If there is an issue then it must be purely bb related. Whats the bt data looking like?  Performance seems ok.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Seem to be getting more disconnection now. Also looks like dlm has raised margin a little as well. Shmbo mentioned line was noisy last night,  quiet line test at the min is ok. I am wondering if my whole d side bundle is knacked, as I have had at least 4 d side pair swaps over the last few years. Could dct or what they are called now do a full line test, and see what shows up. Also cant seem to get error stats out of this billion 7300n as I would like to see crc errors etc.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Hi Penfold,
Sorry to hear that you've been seeing issues again, does the graph below look correct to the drops you've been seeing?

Running a quick check on the line does show that the line quality has dropped back down from Green to Amber so something has definitely been picked up. Just to clarify though, the checks didn't flag any faults so it may be worth seeing how we go with the stability of the connection.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Looking at that the line dosnt seem that unstable. There was a drop at 11.30ish I presume that was the line test. Oddly upstream seems to have synced very low at 498. Checked line for noise again and it is all quiet.  Going to install dlm tool so I can monitor errors and also routerstats.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Morning Penfold,
Please let us know what you see on your side with this and we can move forward from there. The drop you saw around 11:30ish would have been me running the invasive faults checks which drops the connection on your side to test the authentication from our side.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Thanks Adam.
unfortunately I cant get anything to run with this billion router I have, DLM tool will not work, and I cant seem to get routerstats to work either.
Unless anyone can offer advice, I will put the TG582n back on, so I can get some error stats, see whats going on...
Resynced again last night, around 10ish, upload reduced again to approx 380kbps!!!  No noise on line again.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Hi Penfold,
Are you able to get router stats to simply screen scrape the HTML stats page?  Which version are you using - lite or full?  Have you tried the telnet interface in the full product?

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Hi kevin thanks for the advice. Can't seem to get it to work at all.  Its probably easier to use the tg to get some initial error stats.
Had a few disconnection tonight and line was a bit noisier than yesterday but no crackling or anything like that.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

OK, TG582n is back on the line, and things seem alot more stable!!!  Not had 1 resync since it was put on, and only 1 PPP drop, not sure why. Oddly enough since the PPP drop the internet light has been RED, but I have full internet connectivity.  Line stats below, and I have attached an image of the bit loading if anyone can assist in interpretation  Smiley
Errors seem quite low, I know line is interleaved but unsure of the depth.  Its possible billion router might be going south, as a few times I had checked the stats it appeared it had done a cold reboot.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Morning Penfold
It does indeed look like it could be your Billion router giving up the ghost.
Tests are showing your connection is a lot better! Fingers crossed you've cracked it but get back to us if you have any more problems.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Thanks Jack.
I will keep an eye on things, but I am positive about the outcome.
I will be a little irritated if the billion router is on its way out, I don't think its 12months old yet.  I have not been particularly impressed with it to be honest....

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

A bit more info, if poss can anyone shine any light on this.
Had routerstats running for 20mins or so, to see whats going on. Downstream SNR is pretty static, but upstream all over the place, particularly when phone is off the hook. In the attached graphs, the drops in upstream margin apart from the second smaller drop are when phone doing a quiet line test (which is totally silent). Left the phone off the hook for 3-4mins for the second drop, and margin stayed low until phone put back.
Thoughts?

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Hi Penfold, No info I'm afraid.
But I'll be following this thread because my line behaves exactly the same way, but on the downstream noise margin.
I have a MK2 filtered faceplate but still get movement on my noise margin when the phone is in use (amongst other things!)
Note the 3 small drops of 2.5dB.  Depending on the noise margin at the time the drops can vary in intensity.
P.S. The big drop at 14.15 is another visit from BTOR, not for the above reason though.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Well line seems stable at the min. Will await a response from somebody more knowledgeable than me regards the line stats.

Re: Old problem rearing its head again.....

Well even with these odd upstream noise issues, line very stable.  No resyncs as yet, last time I looked, only around 400ish CRC errors in over 2 days uptime.
Had a PPP drop yesterday sometime, and now internet light back green again, that was a bit odd.
Anyone from COT care to comment on the noise issues?Huh
