Ofcom and Samknows Broadband Performance Testing

Hi all,
Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has partnered with SamKnows to research broadband performance in the UK.
They’re looking for customers of various broadband services, including Plusnet and so we'd like to get as many people as possible to take part in the testing.
The research involves connecting your router to a device that monitors the performance of your broadband connection (not your home network or web traffic).
If you volunteer and take part in this project, you’ll get access to your own data so you can track the performance of your broadband connection.
If you’d like to join in or find out more, please go to http://www.samknows.com/broadband/signup/ofcom

NOTE: Our units download approximately 2GB per month and upload around 2GB. If you're on a product with a low usage cap then we'd advise against signing up, or at least informing us beforehand so that we can apply a different testing profile.

Re: Ofcom and Samknows Broadband Performance Testing

It was a long, long time from when I originally applied to when I heard anything - I ended up applying a second time.
Edit: I shows some interesting things - like I'd like to know what happened to my latency on 21/04!
Edit 2: I've posted about the latency here: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,95426.0.html

I filled that in a couple of weeks ago, but heard nothing back. *Some* sort of response wouldn't go amiss...

Re: Ofcom and Samknows Broadband Performance Testing

The Ofcom testing is being done in May. When the results of the last batch of testing were published we didn't have very many customers on ADSL2+ taking part so the post (and mails we sent out today) is to try and get some ADSL2+ customers taking part in the testing for May.

WWWombat - I'll feed back to Samknows and see what they say.

Re: Ofcom and Samknows Broadband Performance Testing

I saw that the last Ofcom test started to give performance figures for FTTC, but that BT was the only ISP to get singled out within that category.
I'll hopefully be on FTTC by the time the next test comes around, so I'd sure like to be able to contribute. That is provided BT manage to fix their installation-booking system by then  Undecided

Any particular reason why you didn't restrict the emails to those customers on ADSL2+
