Re: OFCOM findings re ISP's speed

So true!
I come from Hull.  What my brother gets for what he pays is indeed shocking.  Fixed rate (1M &2M) services were the norm at way over what I was paying for up to 8M in rural Cheshire... And my service was better than his, less than 2 miles from the main exchange.

Thank you for the pointer to the data normalisation assertion.

Re: Ofcom: Plusnet best peak time ADSL2+ Speed Performance Nov 2013

Actually it's not the fastest UK speed - Hypertoptic offer up to 1Gb
The small print of Karoo fibre shows their advert is a little bit cheeky:  Compared with BT Infinity fibre broadband speeds of ‘up to 38Mbps’.
BT Infinity offer up to this:

Not most places in Hull can get super fast fibre optic BB with HO or BT, so KC think they can get away with it!

Registered interest for a relative of mine who can't get fibre in Whitburn, Tyne and Wear.
This is a community which struggles to get 2 or 3 mbps !
We are in a digital age now and we all should get decent internet speeds!

Re: Ofcom: Plusnet best peak time ADSL2+ Speed Performance Nov 2013

The problem with the digital age is that much of it (especially in rural areas) is still carried over ancient copper / aluminium wires, which have the ability to reduce FTTC to sub ADSL 2 speeds seen in urban areas.
