Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

Thanks @Townman

Would it be normal to get a blip like that only with certain calls?

Am due to restart router today anyway as need to install some homeplugs to get Internet to upstairs device whilst I am testing using master socket downstairs.

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

Well it took a while and despite lots of testing calling myself yesterday, first incoming call today and down she goes. there is definitely something wrong with the line. will be chasing PN for engineer visit aggressively today!

Quiet line test dropped it as well:

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

I know it won't necessarily be the same thing, but we had exactly this last year. Line was usually quiet on quiet line test but any incoming call dropped the broadband. Turned out that  the cable to the village had a hole in it where it passed through some trees and the whole thing needed replacing. Unfortunately this wasn't done until the problem had got so bad that we had no service at all 😞

Jon,

If you follow my drift - it is good that this is looking not good. Cool_smiley

The problem is intermittent which makes fault identification and elimination very difficult, however you have verified a correlation of BB drops with the use of the phone ... which ought to help the BTOR engineers identify and eliminate potential culprits.

Yes @Townman. I am pleased that although its not looking good that at least there is pretty firm evidence there is a line fault. I guess the battle is now getting it to show up on tests and get it sorted.

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

After lots of chasing was promised a call yesterday about the problem. Guess what. No call!

Come on PN, get this sorted. Been going on since July.

Sods law. On chat to raise complaint and it goes down. No associated phone use at the time. I guess it could be PN checking things but looks a bit odd.

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

Been promised a call every day this week but nothing received. Really fed up of this now. @Gandalf  @Chris can you bump my ticket #158861181 at all please? this really is the worst CS I have ever had from PN and have been with them since F9.

Jon,

Where are you at with this?  have you raised a broadband fault report?  Has an engineer been scheduled?

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

Hi @Townman

Fault raised. They wouldn't send engineer until they had tried interleaving and raising SNRM. That obviously didn't work and I update ticket last week to reflect this and provided routerstats plots. I was promised a call to progress the matter every day this week but no-one has called even though I have had daily chats to ask what is going on.

not happy.

Re: Odd Speedtest readings (0 upload) and occasional slow internet

Hi Jon,

I can understand why you are unhappy here ... adding interleaving and raising the SNRM is nothing more than wall papering over the cracks ... however I suspect that in an attempt by BTOR to cut their costs they are forcing ISPs to resort to such measures.  Whilst the failure of such measures to rectify the issue might result in alternative action, there is some risk that an attending engineer will not be able to discern a fault at the time of the visit ... hence the recourse to wall paper.

A Plusnet failure to make the promised call back though is something else and ought not to be happening.  What (if anything) have the chat agents said about next action?

@Gandalf - can you intercede please?
