NowSlow but stable - Then, fast and spikey

A bit of advice please.  My current Draytek Vigor 2710 download speed is (today) 1642kbps, with an upload speed of 295kbps.  We have 2 pc's wired to the router, during the day its wireless capability is not used.  We changed to a plusnet business tarrif sometime ago.  Back on 2009 (with a Netgear DG834N) we had a connsction of arounf 6000kbps; have a look at the attached graph.  Is there any reason for the huge differences from 2009 to today?

Unfortunately, no one commented. So my service speeds are normal then. Say no more, nudge nudge wink wink.

Can you post the line stats from the router?

I'm not sure what you mean. I can see fluctuations but the last report on the graph was showing just over 6300 Smiley

No need to shout  Grin
You have a major problem.
To save me reading back
Are you using the  test socket
Have you tried replacing filter/cable etc.
If you haven't already you need to raise a fault

Re: NowSlow but stable - Then, fast and spikey

Hi OldJim,
Apologies for the Caps Lock being on.
I have just changed the splitter to a brand new one and yes it is pluhgged into the socket where my phone line enter the room which, incidentally is about 2 feet from the modem on my desk.  I reconnected and then run the speed test again and it recorded 1648kbps.
I'll raise a fault then.  Oh, BTW Thanks for your advice.

That isn't the test socket so doesn't isolate your local wiring

Re: NowSlow but stable - Then, fast and spikey

Oldjim: Having had access to the Master Socket last Friday, I was able to plug the phone line into that.  My speed has risen to (a very acceptable) 5600.  So does that mean that I leave the plug in the Master Socket or that I need to have the whole unit replaced please?
I did start the fault procedure but have today made the above enquiry.
