Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Thanks, Chris. I got an email from support on my ticket this morning, requesting a "speed" when I am having the problem. I'll get a BTW speedtest later and add it to my ticket.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Chris - updated my ticket with a BTW speedtest and a link to a speedtest.net one. I've had an update on my ticket requesting access times for a "specialist engineer". I see from your colleague's notes he believes a Boost engineer will be required, however I've already had three engineers out, and they identified, and eventually rectified a problem. I'm not sure how another visit will help, especially as I only see evidence of the issue after the engineers are off duty?
These are the tests I added to the ticket last night:

1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
6.14 Mbps
0 Mbps 21 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 6.14 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 13.09 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.94 Mbps
0 Mbps 0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.94Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps
ETA: speed test results.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

The Boost Engineer that we will send will not be time banded. An SFI (Special Faults Investigation Engineer) has a time band of 2 hours in which to resolve a fault with the service. Boost Engineers do not play to this rule as they are there effectively to spend more time and find the cause of the problem and resolve the issue. If further work is required, the job should then be maintained for another date to ensure it is resolved.
Ultimately engineers will have to attend as there isn't really anything that can be done remotely in this instance. The engineer should make a co op call with ourselves at Plusnet so we can discuss the fault whilst the engineer is on site.
Fingers crossed that the issue gets identified and resolved for you.

OK. I'll pop some dates on to the ticket and see where it leads us...

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Boost engineer has been booked for Friday PM (tomorrow) to check my line/possible capacity issues/possible TPM/possible L&S, also co-op with CP.
Having seen tales on here regarding engineers not either having the CP's instructions, or ignoring them, we'll see...

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

Boost engineer rang to say he would be here in 20 minutes, and was as good as his word. From that point, the visit went predictably...
LTOK as expected following the previous work carried out.
He called BTW, who confirmed not a hot VP and if it was congestion I should be seeing it all the time. He (the BTW guy) came up with the more cars driving on a motorway analogy causing peak time slow downs. If that isn't congestion, I don't know what is...
The BTW guy also refused to authorise a lift and shift at that point. Engineer then called Plusnet and spoke to a member of the faults team who said he would try to push for a L&S and left it there.
I need to record another peak time BTW speedtest as well, so I'll do that later tonight and add it to the ticket.
Edit: Typo

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

I didn't get a peak time speed test on Friday or Saturday nights - pub o'clock came round early as both were such nice evenings  Smiley
Did one on Sunday at around 20:45 or so.

I also did a BTW speed test and it came in around the 2Mb mark, and prompted me to run the TAP3 test, which told me I needed to report a speed fault to my ISP...
Hey ho.
My ticket has been updated.

I can see it's been picked up again this morning, sorry this is going on so long - we'll keep on at it and keep pushing though.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

I know you've been speaking with Jonathan regarding your fault, I have too. We've just received an update from our suppliers as follows "the fault is now with one of the members from the complex faults team and you will be updated via notifications with investigation outcome and next action plan."
As soon as we hear anything back we'll be in-touch.

Re: Not really a new topic - Peak Time slowdown still happening.

I posted earlier on in the thread regarding slowdowns at peak time on this same exchange.
Things are still the same for me - when I initially raised the ticket there was some speculation that it could be due to the package I was on at the time (the old 120gb pm one). As of the start of this month I moved to the current unlimited package and I have kept an eye on things with regards to evening speeds since then. Sadly nothing has changed.
I am getting my linespeed throughout the day, no problems there, however come evening up until past midnight speeds are in general slower than daytime. The particular issue is Youtube, Vimeo and Iplayer are borderline unusable - getting speeds of 50-170ks at the moment on all of these services, constantly fluctuating. During the day this will be a steady 430k/s, maxing out my linespeed.
As I say everything is a touch slower - oddly I can get torrents and steam downloads at approaching linespeed during this time (certainly slower in the day but nothing id complain about and nowehere near the atrocious streaming media speeds) - streaming media is rendered useless though.
I am beginning to get seriously hacked off with it - I called tech support last night, pleasant though the guy was I refuse to believe the theory that Youtube and Iplayer struggle to serve me at my relatively measly 4mb linespeed every single evening.
