Noise on telephone line

Here's an interesting one.
I was on a phone call - and the person other end said they were having difficulty understanding me becuase of a buzzing !.
As it happens I could here it too.
So I wondered if my filter was ok -
I changed the filter and did the 17070 quiet line test and definitely some noise there,
so I turned off the router and it was still there.
So what could this be - a fault at the exchange ? -
I might phone PN CSC when it is not too busy - !
Anyone else heard anything like this ?

Re: Noise on telephone line

Not necessarily a fault at the exchange but if you still hear it with one phone plugged into the test socket then we'll need to report it to BT as otherwise it'll start playing hob with your phone and broadband.
See if it still happens when that's the case and give us a ring/raise a ticket/post back here if it does and we'll kick the investigation off for you.

Re: Noise on telephone line

Hi Mal,
Not surprised with stats like that. I could be wrong and maybe there won't be any change to the service, in which case it could well be a matter of if it ain't broke don't fix it. Fingers crossed.

Matt - when I first read your remark, I thought - why what's wrong with my stats. !
But actually I normally get more like 6 to 6.7M - and I once almost hit the dizzy heights of 7M
