No output power from exchange ?

I did notice my ADSL2+ had no output power from the exchange as was this normal way ?
Type                  Fast Path
Status                SHOWTIME
                                  Downstream                  Upstream
Data rate(Kbps)                13999                        1279
Noise Margin                      5.6                            7.2
Output power(dBm)            0.0                            12.8
Attenuation(dB)                  33                              17
Why it showing output power for upstream but not on the downstream ? 0.0dBm as my router was still connection for 19 hours and 51 minutes without any drop

Re: No output power from exchange ?

Mine does it all the time mate, I think it is just a glitch with the Belkin firmware.

Re: No output power from exchange ?

Don't think it had nothing to with Belkin firmware, cos the output power (was the same on Netgear router, Belkin router)

Re: No output power from exchange ?

Just opened up my router page and it showed the power output, I hit refresh 2 times and this is what it showed
Type  Interleave Path
  Status  SHOWTIME
                                              Downstream  Upstream
  Data rate(Kbps)                    12438          888
  Noise Margin                              4              12
  Output power(dBm)                  0                20
  Attenuation(dB)                        29            16
I hit refresh another 2 times and

  Output power(dBm)                  12              20
I don't think it is a problem, just maybe it is slow on the uptake every so often.

Re: No output power from exchange ?

Most routers will read that at zero, I'd not be concerned unless you're seeing an entire lack of downstream traffic.

Re: No output power from exchange ?

How is my ADSL2+ connection so far Adam ? So far it been connection for 20 hours and 53 mins but can you check for me to see if the dropping in speed had stopped ? I might pop over to PCWorld later today to get a new router, Netgear DGN2200 Wireless Modem Router as I heard it very good router far better than my Netgear DG834N or was it make no difference ?

Re: No output power from exchange ?

It will not make much difference as some of your problems are to do with the wiring of the BT master socket and the internal wiring. From the photo posted in another thread showing inside the master box I would be very surprised if the wires terminated on the A and B terminals was done by Opeanreach.

Re: No output power from exchange ?

The outside of the bin cupboard was the whole lots of BT things, wiring, junction boxes etc. Must be very old things from BT (old 1970's) My mum also told me her line is dropping speed all times, so I knew it wasn't my line at all. Must be our local exchange (BT uplift and swift things)
My mum line was 12000K, drop to 11000K, 10000K and now 9000K, mine was the same at 13000K, drop to 12000K, 10000K and probably drop to 9000K by tomorrow I reckon

Re: No output power from exchange ?

I had investigated of why our area dropping ADSL2+ speed. I went to four houses today all on same exchange, House 1 was connect 13766K and profile drop to 8000K, house 2 was connect at 12576K and profile drop to 9000K and house 3 was connect at 14799K and profile drop to 8000K and house 4 was connect 11676K and profile drop to 8000K. All same exchanges as my mum and my house. Nothing to do with all 6 houses wiring, bt sockets. It the local exchange could be faulty network card, profiling issues or BT uplift and swift things ongoing ?

Re: No output power from exchange ?

I just purchase a brand new Netgear DGN2200 N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router but I wait until after 48 hours when the IP Profile will rise back to 12000K from 10000K at BT end before I can try the new Router to see what the different to my old Netgear DG834N rangemax
