No broadband

Has anybody else lost their broadband around the Crewe area?

It was fine last night, but down this morning so I'm guessing it may be due to the weather, but who knows. And yes, I've switched it off and on again 😛

Can't get hold of anybody at Plusnet so just trying to find out if it's a localised problem, or just me.

Re: No broadband

There have been major problems caused by last nights storms all over the country- the staff will have been busier than normal.

Re: No broadband

I understand that there's been problems, but there's nothing helpful from Plusnet. If you go onto the status checker, it says there's a problem in Edinburgh, but that's it. The same if you try to call, it's only Edinburgh. Is it too much to ask that they mention elsewhere?

Re: No broadband

Broadband is not going to work well if the "phone" line is not working properly.

Please perform a quiet line test - dial 17070 select option 2 using a corded phone plugged into the test socket behind the face plate of the master socket. It should be silent. A noisy phone line (or no dial tone) will have a marked adverse impact on the performance of broadband.

If the line is noisy or there is no dial tone, then a PHONE LINE fault needs to be raised with your phone provider. If this is PlusNet, you can report a fault on line using the button below.  From the Q&A list, choose the one which matches the problem, 'open' the 'section' and click the trouble-shooter link.  NB: If you receive a failure message (rather than a log-in prompt) then log-in to the user portal in a different browser tab and attempt to use the trouble-shooter again.

Re: No broadband

The good news is that my broadband has just kicked into life, so I guess it was down to a BTW issue. However.....

It still doesn't alter the fact that for for the past 8 hours I've had no internet and no way of finding out if it was a problem at my end or a BT issue affecting the area. I went through the checklist (even borrowed a phone to test the line including QLT) and when you get to the end of it it says 'contact us' - but you can't.
