Hi
Any suggestions on how to fix this Outlook Express failure?
Would I still have the problem if I changed my IE to Firefox?
I am a novice so no truncated answers please!
Cheers

First and easy answer - changing to Firefox wouldn't help.
A few questions
I assume that this is the first time this has happened and that you could connect successfully before
Have you upgraded or changed your security software
Have you changed anything in Outlook Express
Looking at your previous post - you have just changed from Orange - are you still using the Orange email servers or have you changed them to the Plusnet ones in Outlook Express

(1) No. On a deep scan it would not remove one virus: twext.exe
(2) No
(3) Still using Orange email but I noticed the Plusnet connection symbol when it was trying to send.
This is the first time I have used OE since my move to Plusnet - the business only accept emails through OE ( I tried to cut 'n' paste the address and it would not let me!)
Thanks in anticipation Oldjim.

If you haven't changed your Outlook Express settings you will need to change the outgoing email server SMTP to relay.plus.net but if you are still using your orange email keep the orange incoming mail server.
This is what it looks like on one of my Plusnet accounts. The one which will be different on yours is the one circled in red

you should not leave any virus on you machine, nor send e-mails when you have one
removal details are here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t181579.html it uses Malwarebyte that seems to get rid of all the difficult ones

Thanks Oldjim. Thanks Pierre
Followed both suggestions and an OE message got through. Some nasties that had evaded A-Squared go zapped.
Cheers
