No Internet light on new router?

Is this likely to be the routers fault or something with my new connection? I have cloned the MAC address supplied with the Thomson router into my new Netgear N300. The problem is something to do with the internet light not coming on on the netgear router. Is there any reason this might be happening or is it likely the router is DOA?

Re: No Internet light on new router?

Does the Thomson router work? I assume it does, in which case there is nothing wrong with your connection.
There is no need to do any MAC address cloning to connect to Plusnet, any standard ADSL2+ router (not a cable router) should work. I assume you mean your Netgear syncs with the exchange but won't connect to Plusnet. Have you checked you've entered the correct broadband username (including the realm (@plusdsl.net) and the correct password?

Re: No Internet light on new router?

It seems I have bought completely the wrong piece of kit  Shocked I will go change it later for a modem / router / switch, it seems the unit is just a router and switch and doesn't contain a dsl modem. Thanks.
