No ATM detected and been told to test with another router

I am a new account and cant get connected (currently using Tmobile to connect) the errror message is no ATM detected..support has suggested I try another router but i have to wait until a friend can bring one around...in the meantime can anyone suggest anything else to try? Thanks in advance for any help recieved

Different filter, cable from socket to router - if you have them available.
I assume you are plugged in to main socket or better still test socket?

will get my friend to bring around various other cables and use the test socket when they do..really dont want to be caught out with £140 engineer costs over a bit of cable !!! if plusnet sends someone out
