New plusnet customer - Poor Broadband speed

Hey
can anyone shed any light on this..
New customer...previously with bt then  obtaining speeds of 6meg..
Broadband activated last night.. with only a speed of 1.5meg
IP profile set at 2meg...
Spoke to customer services, who explained that it takes 10 days for line to stabalise, and that its down to bt to adjust ?
has anyone had a similar issue.. ?
in my previous experiences, on a new a line, you always had the fastest available speed on day 1, and they adjusted it to suit over the 10 days, not the other way around!

cheers

Re: New plusnet customer - Poor Broadband speed

Now its a long time ago....but I can sort of recall that
new 20CN lines (old style exchange equipment) are indeed initialised at 2Mbps IP setting regardless of what the sync speed is
Then after a period (less than a day) it rises to suit the sync speed
then it starts the 10 day training period.
I could be wrong - and it could have changed since mid 2000's.
There is also case histories of 20CN lines getting stuck on an IP setting of 2.0
This happens when an 8128sync line suddenly has lots of disconnections and so goes down to 2 and then reverts right back up again to 8128 sync.  Excpet the IP profile seems to get stuck.
Fo some reason it only affected the normally higher sync lines.

Re: New plusnet customer - Poor Broadband speed

Hi spursmad,
It seems that your IP profile was actually stuck, this was limiting you to 2MB/s. I've spoken with our suppliers and had this lifted so you should see an increase within the next few hours.
