Re: New house, slow connection, world of pain

Hi there,
BRAS updates should occur within 3 days of holding onto a stable level of sync.

Re: New house, slow connection, world of pain

I've been watching the bRAS profile like a hawk and this morning it jumped to the magic 2000 Kbps
So I power cycled the router with a short pause, honestly expecting it to resync at 1200 again with the way my luck has been running.
However I got 2464 again, and then a magical 1804.8 on the Plusnet speedtester, slightly higher on the BT, both smack on for the profile IMHO.
RESULT  Grin
Let's hope it's not just a freaky couple of days.
One lesson I've learned from doing this at 2 different houses now is that nothing, but nothing, makes a difference like having your master socket right where your router is, and having no extensions on it at all.

Re: New house, slow connection, world of pain

If you disconnect the bell wire, the master socket just has the surge suppressor. Does it matter? There are two versions of the NTE5A, one has a little white "gas holder" on the face plate that holds the inductor to filter the bell wire.
My ADSL has been really good since I disconnected my and my ADSL router is on the end of a chain of extensions.
The effective circuit is: http://www.dougrice.plus.com/Erlangs/adsl_Wire004.gif and ADSL uses MW radio frequencies, so the bell wire is an aerial connected to the B wire. This unbalances the ADSL signal adding noise.
Before: http://www.dougrice.plus.com/Erlangs/adsl_Wire002.gif
After: http://www.dougrice.plus.com/Erlangs/adsl_Wire003.gif
I have three filtered phones.
I even have a spur off to the study with a filtered DECT phone.
My download speeds do drop down at busy times of the day, but I still get 5Mbps peak before 8.00am
Tescos are selling two types of Micro Filters.
If the plug has four wires then the phones may nor ring if you disconnect the bell wire.
My circuits are on my web page: http://www.dougrice.plus.com/Erlangs/adsl.htm

Re: New house, slow connection, world of pain

Hi there,
When do you move house?  Looking at the notes on your account, the new provide is due to complete on the 22nd of November and I can't see anything to suggest that this wouldn't be the case.

Re: New house, slow connection, world of pain

Thanks James
22nd will be fine - just worried when I couldn't re- find the progress details.
Would it be possible to confirm when it is completed.
Again many thanks - your prompt response is appreciated
Regards
John

Hi John,
As part of the automated ticketing process, you would automatically receive confirmation once the order has completed.
Was that what you meant?
