Re: New TG582n FTTC firmware - 10.2.5.2 - For testing

Hi, I'm trying out the new FW and cannot seem to add my OpenDNS server settings via telnet. It seems:
dns server route list
is an 'unknown command'?
Anyone got any ideas? I'm logged into the router via telnet as admin.
when I try dns server ? I am only given available options  debug, forward and host ... no route
thanks

Re: New TG582n FTTC firmware - 10.2.5.2 - For testing

Try the command:
dns server forward dnsset add dns=8.8.8.8 intf=Internet metric=1
You can download the cli reference for R10 firmware from here.
http://download.modem-help.co.uk/mfcs-A/Alcatel/Modems/TG582n/v1/Manuals/CLI-Reference/TG582n-EN-r10...
Failing that use the command:
menu
That will show the available commands.

@ wrightgj, see my previous post quoted below for the equivalent command.

On the previous issue:
dns server forward dnsset list
Will give you what the old 'dns server route list' used to list in the newer firmware.
That's RPM to you!!

Re: New TG582n FTTC firmware - 10.2.5.2 - For testing

Great; thanks I've got the DNS servers setup now. I cannot however connect to my work VPN with this version of the firmware.
I have tried unbinding the IKE and PPTP stuff and checked the firewall is OFF and it still isn't working. HELP!

Have you tried with IKE and ESP unbind and PPTP Bind ?

Don't need to disable the firewall but do enable UPnP.
You could always go back to the R8 firmware. Wink

Re: New TG582n FTTC firmware - 10.2.5.2 - For testing

oh, I think I unbound all three... i'll try re-binding the PPTP.
I don't really want to regress to V8 as I like the parental time-slot blocking of devices as it stops the kids using stuff all hours. Thanks.

Re: New TG582n FTTC firmware - 10.2.5.2 - For testing

You can do that with the R8 firmware.
Need to use telnet though  Cheesy

Ah ok that's good to know, thanks. I'll stick with the V10 for now as it's quite nice being able to do it through the GUI.
I have the old router I can swap in for now when I need to use the VPN until I've sorted it.

Could the VPN problem be caused by a recent BT fibre modem upgrade?

Would it be worth making this topic sticky?
