Hi, Quick question, I'm upgrading my essentials package to unlimited which I've been told will start on the 29th. I've received my new router but it says not to set it up until enabled, is this info for someone switching to plusnet or even though I'm already a user of plusnet, I should not set the new router up now?
Regards
Jono

Hey Jono,
You're quite right, this SMS message is mostly for new customers, We've flagged this many times to the powers at be and should be amended at some point, so this is only sent to new customers instead.
You're quite free to set the new router up whenever you'd like
Regards,
Matt

Hi Matt, Thanks for the quick reply, The reason I wanted to connect it now is because over the last week or so I've had something happening with my speeds and Latency, I raised a ticket about it and one of the staff did some adjustments but it hasn't made any difference that I can see.
I can go to the BT test page and get a speed result of 13.03 upload 1mb and a latency of 54.75 which is high for my line, I live just about 100 yrds from my exchange and since going onto 20mb speeds have had brilliant results, the strange thing is if I down load a large file to test it I get great speeds 2mb per second, Hence the high usage in the last few days, trying to find out whats happening, I did a test on the bbc o demand site and these are the results download speed 20691 kbps Streaming speed 1 10313 kbps Streaming speed 2 19790 kbps and so on.
Its a strange thing, there is something not quite right.
regards
Jono

Hi there,
Looks like there's been a few drops over the past few days:
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13655090171715.png"/>
Looks like as a result of this interleaving was turned on for a short while which will have increased the ping times, but it's switched back to fastpath now - have pings improved at all?
Either way, do you hear any noise on the phone line - pops, hisses, crackles, that sort of thing - that might be interfering with the broadband at all? If so that'd be worth raising to your voice provider as fixing that (if it exists) will help with the connection.

Hi Matt, The Line is clear, no unusual noises, I had to speak to your billing dept this morning and it was ok, The reason for the drops was me disconnecting filters trying new router and so on, I've already raised a ticket and added a load of info for them but as yet I've heard nothing, I noticed whilst doing more tests on various sites that when trying the download speed the indicator needle is very erratic with the final speed reading suddenly jumping at the end, the upload speed test is as smooth as silk.
I've given up doing tests at the moment because I've used half of my allowance for the month, just waiting now for an answer from the tech staff. Just done a test and its Latency 39.00 upload 0.9 and down 10.54
regards jono

OK,
I've just run some diagnostics and can't see any issues there as the line is connecting at a 21mb profile that's appropriate to the sync rate of around 24mb.
FYI I'd avoid doing any further reboots as possible as too many will cause DLM (dynamic line management) to lower the line profile.
Think of that as an animation, the movement of the needle isn't an indication of how the connection is performing or how the speed test is going.
