Hi everybody, I wonder if someone has any knowledge on my issue.
I've recently had a BT engineer test my phone line for Broadband performance. He advised me that the 300 metres of cable from the 'Green Box' on the main road is losing approximately 5Mb of speed. Apparently the cables in our estate are underground and aluminium which is noted for poor transmission of braodband. I'm obviously interested in getting a better speed than the current 2.6 Mb at the master socket.
Now, I'm guessing that if I asked for a new phone line to the house, I'd be given just another pair of aluminium cables that is spare in the same distribution and therefore will not improve matters.
Has anyone had a similar experience or knowledge of what BT will/could do for me?
