Hello there im new to plusnet been with them for about a week now. getting 75meg at the bt openreach modem but only 39meg max on the router wireless. changed the wireless channel but made no difference. suppose its due to the cheapness of the router. Was wondering if anyone has used the Netgear WNDR3400 N600 on plusnet fibre?

I tried Netgear N600 wndr3700, during the month I used it there constant disconnections. My speed dropped to 4 mb/sec from 64mb/sec, tried a replacement still the same. Netgear support was a waste of time.

I've also had problems with some recent Netgear routers. Quite a few FTTC customers using Asus routers (including me). RT-N66U and RT-N56U both offer excellent wifi coverage and performance and also good overall throughput. See, for example:

Thanks for replies everyone.
I have been looking online at routers and found this Asus RT-N12 C1 Wireless N Broadband. Anygood and will it work with plusnet?

Before anyone writes off Netgear routers, my WNDR4000, sitting on the shelf in the living room is pretty awesome.
Never locked up (even when asking it to transfer multiple huge files over the network), and never drops on 5GHz, and doesnt drop on 2.4GHz either (dropping wireless was an issue round here with 20+ networks being received!) The UI's pretty good and its fairly fast.
