My broadband switch

I ordered my broadband and phone package on 8/10 and have had the first payment deducted immediately but no updates. The tracker still says it checking the line but since my existing service provider is ending my service on 22/10 I am now very concerned that my switch won't happen in time and I'll be left without phone and broadband and will lose my phone number. Can u advise

I wish this had been made clear before now. Does this mean I will loose my phone number then?
