see below
Uptime: 0 days, 3:51:37
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 888 / 6,364
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 440 / 5,848
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 23.93 / 106.71
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 41.5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.5 / 9.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 65,538 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 65,538 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 32 / 10,900
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 1 / 25
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 1 / 87
But my PN profile has fallen to 3.5 Mbps
Do I wait for an 88.2% reset or does it need a nudge?

It has indeed completed - I've upped the profile on your account to 5800 to match the current sync rate, hope that helps and speeds things up for you

since my last post my profile has not moved from 5.8
is it stuck?
Is it affected by a 10 day training period?

Plusnet match BT's IP profile (and round down to the nearest 100 afaik) rather than the sync speed shown on the router.
What does BT's speed test say? http://www.speedtester.bt.com/

I am puzzled that my bandwidth stays fixed at 5.8 Mbps while my max bandwidth varies between day and night.
Shouldn't one be following the other?

You could try tomorrow during the day (when the bandwidth is highest), doing a router [DISCONNECT] and then [CONNECT] using the router web page controls, and see if the bandwidth changes.

The bandwidth remains constant while sync is maintained with the exchange.
In the absence of a better explanation my speculative take on the bandwidth/maximum bandwidth relationship is as follows.
I think maximum bandwidth reflects what bandwidth you are likely to sync at if you did restart the router. Except for those so close to the exchange that they have noise margin to spare, if current noise margin is greater than the target value then maximum bandwidth will normally be above current bandwidth. Typically this occurs during daylight hours. Conversely if current noise margin is below the target value then maximum bandwidth will be below current bandwidth. This is generally the case at night.
The grey area is when the current noise margin and target noise margin values are roughly equal. I suspect maximum bandwidth can be higher or lower than current bandwidth in this situation because the bit loading distribution probably comes into play. If the router thinks bit loading is becoming marginal (for maintaining sync) then maximum bandwidth will be reduced.
