Moving to new premium

Hi
I have been on Prem op 1 for quite a while now and it has served me well but I now need to look at another package which removes the download limit at peak times.  Will i notice much difference between the two as My son has X box live and is now starting to use the sky player on it as well.
Any ideas
Thanks

Re: Moving to new premium

Craig, looks like you are in the same situation as me. See 'Where do I go from here' post.
Premium gives 80GB but quite a few things have very restricted speeds at peak times.

Re: Moving to new premium

Wow Andy
Its just like looking in a mirror :D.  I know what you mean re usage.  Since Sky player came out on X Box,  son no 1 used 2.5 gig in 3 days but said he new nothing about it.  Its stopped since we "had a chat" hahaha Hes 16.5 so a few grunts later and all was good  I dont know which way to go but my monthly usage remains below 30 gig at the mo but I only download after
12.00 am. Its the 8.00 am time scale i would miss but the extra usage would more than make up for that I think.  I also think that you can change back to your old package within a month if the new one is not working for you but im sure I will be corrected if im wrong  As long as online gaming is ok then I think that this might be the way to go.

Hi Craig,
If you move to the new product and it doesn't work out for you drop me a PM - as long as it's within the first month I'd be happy to move you back.

Re: Moving to new premium

Hi orbrey
I  moved yesterday to the new premium package and it said it should change on my next billing date of 02/12/2009.  Will the month start from them and will I see much differance on X box live?

Hi Craig,
Yes, your month should start from then.
From my perspective, you shouldn't notice a massive difference on XBOX Live, although your downloads should be quicker.

Re: Moving to new premium

Hi
been on new package for a week now and it seems OK.  The only issue Ive got is with my speed. Raised several tickets and still got issues.  line speed stuck at 2000. Any advise would be a help.  connection seems to be more stable now and has been for 5 days or more
cheers

Re: Moving to new premium

(Could be time for Mand to get the educating tool out)
You need to run a BT speedtest and find out what it says for your IP Profile.
You then need to ring in and ask for your Current line speed to be set to match your IP Profile - they should be able to do it instantly.
Post back here if you have any problems getting them to do it.

Re: Moving to new premium

Looking at your account your IP profile has been 2000 since November 30th (2 days before the product change). What are your router stats now? And the IP profile from a BT speedtest will help also as Jelv says.

Re: Moving to new premium

Hi
Just done a bt speed test and results as follows
Download Speed
1728 Kbps

0 Kbps 2000 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1728 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3020 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 444 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 12.79:24.02:63.19 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
Router statats are as follows at 6.15 pm 12/12/2009

Uptime: 0 days, 9:22:33
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 447 / 3,023
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB] 664.62 / 840.60
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28.5 / 52.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 13.5 / 9.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / TSTC
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 12 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 10 / 128,067
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 10 / 138
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 1,794 / 122
not sure how this helps but I hope it does as the line stats have been up to 3500 before but id settle for 3000 if it was stable. If the max achievable speed is only 2000 then there is a problem with the connection as I have done all the tests and more but the speed still remains low.  I had the exchange snr dropped a few months ago and the connection was great but too fast for my line to cope with.
