And I've just updated it again.
Unfortunately there's been no response from BT, but I'll check again later.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Thanks James.. it is nice to see that someone is following up.
At least something is happening, and you are helping. Its one of the reasons why I have stuck with PlusNet.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Hi Vik,
Coincidentally I was just looking at your account to give you the latest update.
There hasn't been any update on your fault as of yet, but I'll be giving them a ring shortly to find out if we can get some more movement.
Thanks for your patience.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Hi Vik,
I've spoken to BT.  They'll soon be moving your fault into a state where we can book an appointment for you.
I'll update your ticket once BT have made the change on their faults system.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Apologies for any confusion I caused earlier, the information I was given was slightly incorrect.
BT are in the process of booking an Exchange Engineer to go and investigate your line and it's jumpering at your local exchange.  They may well be able to find the cause of your fault from there.
Once we have a further update I'll be back in touch.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Good morning James,
Did you or BT do something last night? I can now connect, started off yesterday evening. My Netgear is showing
Connection Speed  2336 kbps  448 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 5.1 db 17.0 db
All 3 modems sync now.
Please dont close the ticket though, I would like to monitor this over the weekend.

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Yay Smiley
BT haven't updated the fault on the front end that we see, but that to me suggests than an exchange engineer did visit and managed to find and fix a problem at your exchange.
It's also worth noting that for your length of line (from the attenuation figure), those speeds are very good.
I'll put your ticket on hold until Monday.  Thanks for the update!

Re: Moving my broadband experience

Hi James

Looks like it went okay over the weekend and today as well. Someone somewhere did the fix. thanks for all your help in this matter.
Final 2 questions:
1. The Thomson Router you sent works on the wireless part. None on the Ethernet ports seem to communicate though. Any suggestions?
2. My Netgear is connected directly to the master socket. There is an extension socket in the upstairs bedroom. whenever I connect a phone to it, the connection drops downstairs for the ADSL. Beyond the obvious "dont connect it", any suggestions?
Thanks again

I'll RMA it and send a replacement

Are you connecting the phone through a filter? Or it might be that the internal wiring between the master and extension socket isn't high enough quality and causes noise on the line when something is plugged in there.
