Moving home to a second line - doing it the correct way. Question for tech guys!

I will be moving home in the last week of September.
I will be moving less than half a mile from BN3 2xx to BN3 1xx and both addresses are covered by HOVE exchange which will be less than 500 metres as the crow files.
I will be sharing a property and want to take my BT provided phone number and Plusnet broadband to the new flat as a second line.
So I need BT to install a new line at £120+ and Plusnet to move my broadband for £60+. I'm happy to pay the charges and don't need any new hardware. I don't want to be put in a new 18 month contract - I would prefer to stay on my 1 month contract!
I really want this to go smoothly... I've heard horror stories of customers waiting weeks to get things sorted out.
A friend has suggested I cease my old line on a Friday and have the phone and broadband provides done on the following Monday. I am happy to do this as long as the broadband is provided on the same day as the second phone line at the new address.
I've also heard I need to ask BT for a something called a simultaneous provide. Is that true?
So, Plusnet tech guys what is the correct way to things as I would like the broadband working on the day the new second line is installed?
Thanks.

If you do a cease you probably will not keep the telephone number that you have now.  Read BT advice here

I presume you have read http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/house_moving.shtml
I believe PN CS have some people who specialise in house moves to ensure all goes well, have you phoned and asked them ?.

Simultaneous orders
When you call your telephone provider, the first thing you should ask is to place a simultaneous order for the provision of a phone line with broadband. It's important to ask this first as changing an order type later on can cause problems.
You'll be asked for the name of your ISP (that's us!) and other details about your order. You'll be given an order reference code that looks like this: ABC123AB or this: ABC12345678.
When you've placed the order, get in touch and let us know the following information:
•Your order reference code
•Your new address
•The date you're moving (we need at least 5 working days notice to place a sim order)
•Your new number (if you know it)
•How you'd like to pay for your broadband move (if applicable see question 3)

@dratdestroyer, Have you read this http://usergroup.plus.net/simprovideorders.php ?

That reference is very interesting.
We are nearly getting there.....
So, Plusnet employees.. what is best? Phone BT first or phone Plusfirst.

Just tried BT.
What a shower. Told them I wanted a simultaneous provide. They repeated it to me.
Now I have to try again in 2 days time because they forgot to put the simultaneous provide on the order.

Good job you read that usergroup thread then!. At least you found out quickly that they hadnt done a sim provide rather than finding out  when the line was activated. Hopefully they'll get it right the second time  Roll_eyes

Hi,
When are you actually moving?
As you've alluded to, you need to sim provide reference before talking to us, then we should be able to get things moving for you Smiley
