Re: Moderators Elections - Voting thread [SPLIT FROM POLL RESULTS]

Alert  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
I recently changed my name (from axisofevil) and I was allowed (and took) a second vote for a pair of moderators.
This is a voting bug?  Cheesy

Are you sure your previous vote was after the poll restarted

This is a voting bug?  Cheesy

I've tried this as well (with my poll) and didn't get a second vote.
Was your first vote cast before 8:30am on Tuesday 3rd February?
If so, this is the explanation: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,73550.0.html

Yes - it looks like that's the answer. Sad
I can't reproduce it anyhow.

Re: Moderators Elections - Voting thread [SPLIT FROM POLL RESULTS]

With regard to page views. Each time a read this thread due to another post being made I add one to the page view. So I can count for at least 10 views and I am one person. So if 30 people voted and followed the thread, each viewing 10x would be 300 views.
Voting in General Elections were mentioned earlier. I will only vote in these if their is a candidate I feel that can represent my views and can be 'trusted'. Unusually I am currently living in a location with such a person and they were elected at our MP too.
With regard to the comment that two candidates will be elected this time, this is not quite true. If no body voted then no one can be elected. Also what happens if their is a tie in the voting?

I agree with what you are saying, however, it's still a disproportionately high amount of page views in relation to the number of votes..

Not sure I agree with that.  Consider this: say 20 different people have posted in this thread and each uses the button to view "Replies to your Posts" when they return to the forums. There's 69 posts in this thread now, at 20 people per reply that's a lot of page reads, plus if you press preview before posting I'm not sure if that counts as another read or not.  Ok that's an idealised calculation and not everyone will use the replies button to view threads, and not everyone will return to read after every post some may only return after a few posts have been added, etc.  Even so it takes very few contributors to a thread returning to it to bump up the reads count.
I'm not saying that everyone who has read has voted, but I believe the vast majority probably have.

I honestly think that a lot of people think the moderators are doing a good job,so why change.I did vote but found it very difficult to choose between candidates.

Re: Moderators Elections - Voting thread [SPLIT FROM POLL RESULTS]

On two occasions I suggested that either the title of this topic or the question itself should be altered to show the ending time of the election - but was ignored. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3
As predicted people are looking at the automatically generated closing time shown after the question.
Why am I raising this now? I've just received the overdue newsletter:

8. Community Forum Moderator Elections
Our Forum Moderators are on the lookout for another couple of keen forum goers to add to their ranks and to keep an eye on the ebb and flows of the Community. If you're a regular contributor and know your way about, take a look at the election forum thread and please do vote. The election is currently running and voting is open until 8:30am on the 15th Feb.

So what are you going to do now?

Re: Moderators Elections - Voting thread [SPLIT FROM POLL RESULTS]

Well it's now five hours since I pointed out the problem with the end date for the election given in the Plusnet newsletter and all four of the existing moderators have in the meantime made posts on these forums.
I would have hoped that by now we would have had a post from one of them to acknowledge that they were aware of the situation and considering what to do. Sad
I've now used the report to moderator tool to make absolutely sure that they are aware.

Re: Moderators Elections - Voting thread [SPLIT FROM POLL RESULTS]

The elections will end as expected, on Friday.
You wouldn't expect the government to extend the voting in a general election just because the Sun posted the wrong date?
