MTI value to get the best throughput?

My connection is good but is bobbing up and down between 1500 Kbps and 2000 Kbps synch speed.
What value should MTU be in this situation?

Re: MTI value to get the best throughput?

MTU should always be whatever is specified by the ISP, it's not speed -related.
I think PN use 1400 on BT links.
Are you thinking of RWIN, that is best increased as sync speed rises?
(defaults will generally be OK at under 2meg)

Re: MTI value to get the best throughput?

MTU has no affect whatsoever on sync speed!
(I have MTU on my router set to 1500)

Mine is currently set at 1458, just wondered if reducing this might increase stability a little.

Re: MTI value to get the best throughput?

If you mean stability of sync speed, then no it won't.
FWIW, after much tweaking I've settled on 1430, with an RWIN of 41700. IP Profile is 3500. YMMV of course.

Re: MTI value to get the best throughput?

dosent really matter that much as long as your not over 1500 as then packets have to be choped up
