Hi All,
I've just returned from a two week holiday during which time I had my router turned off. Now I'm back I seem to be experiencing very slow speeds at all times, my latest mybroadbandspeed test is below.
I've been trying to get the BT Speed Tester site to work as well, but so far I've only been able to run test 1 which gave me a result of 404kbps. From the member centre I've pulled the following information, the last bit of which looks rather wrong to my eyes:
Telephone number:
0124267xxxx
Phone exchange:
BISHOPS CLEEVE
Estimated line speed:
5 - Checked on 2009-11-01 12:31:15
Current line speed:
500
According to my router I am synced at around 4500kbps. Before I went away I was constantly at around 7300kbps and getting very good speeds.
Any ideas as to what the cause may be? Is it that BT think my two weeks of downtime indicates a poor line? I'm on the Plusnet Pro package if this helps. Thanks everyone

The Plusnet "profile" figure shows a date of either 11th Jan 2009 OR 1st November 2009 !... (depends on how you interpret it !)
I think I had a similar problem after a couple of weeks on hols....
You need to leave the router switched on and plugged in to the phone line for 24/7 for a few days, and let the BT system recognise the line is again active.... after 3 days , you should be able to re_boot the router by unplugging from the mains supply, and waiting for 10 minutes before plugging back in.... Hopefully this will increase the synch speed..
1. do the re-boot during daylight hours, preferably between 10:30 and 15:00
2. only do the re-boot once per 24 hours
3,. do a speed test before re-boot, with my broadband or www.speedtest.net ; - make a note of the results, then do the same again after re-boot. and also do a BT speedtest after the re-boot
come back here, and post the results for before and after....

Had some luck, but it's still not back to the 6 or 7 Mbps it was before the holidays. Results below
Before:
After:
And the BT Speedtester Test 1 results are 434Kbps
Acceptable 600 - 7150 Kbps
Your DSL Connection Rate :7648 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6500 Kbps
The PlusNet profile doesn't seem to have changed, still lists 500 as the current line speed:
Telephone number:
0124267xxxx
Phone exchange:
BISHOPS CLEEVE
Estimated line speed:
5 - Checked on 2009-11-01 12:31:15
Current line speed:
500
Any further ideas? Cheers for the help

Can you try again now? (Might need a router reboot first)
