Low IP Profile

Hi,
I have just moved home, I have kept my Phone Number as it is on the same exchange, my connection became active yesterday, but the download speeds are only a quarter to what I was previously getting, I did a BT Speed Test and got this result - "Download speed achieved during the test was - 1788 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps"
What would be the cause of such a low IP profile ?
Thank you
Joe.

Re: Low IP Profile

Hi there,
The default profile assigned to new lines is 2Mb, I'd recommend resyncing late tomorrow morning (around lunchtime is ideal) - please make sure you do so via the router's interface though rather than turning it off or unplugging it. This should cause the higher sync rate to register on the exchange equipment and push the profile update through sooner.

Re: Low IP Profile

Could you post your router stats please. If they are good and you have plenty of spare noise margin there's no need to wait until tomorrow.

Re: Low IP Profile

Definitely no need to wait - however it looks as though you already have as the uptime is only 39 minutes

I did a disconnect/reconnect via router's interface, but it made no difference, IP Profile still 2000 Kbps.

Re: Low IP Profile

Not quite the best line I've seen but close!
A 7150kbps profile should be applied pretty soon, the easiest way to check is to run a BT speedtester to see what profile it says is there - wait for that to increase and then go for the reboot is the safest option, but one or two power cycles a day don't harm an otherwise perfect line.

Re: Low IP Profile

Hi joem52
Looks as though it's up to 7150 now. Have you seen the difference on your side?
