Re: Losing connection

Hi Steve,
Can you cut and paste your router complete stats please?
I suspect that something is a bit "off" here - if your router reports it, I'd like to confirm the current modulation standard.

Re: Losing connection

I've tried a reset, but it hasn't disconnected you yet so I can't see whether it's worked. Can you try a single disconnect/reconnect of your connection and see how it's looking then?

Re: Losing connection

Hi Steve,
That was quick - thank you.

Chris,
By disconnect were you thinking of a PPP session drop or a xDSL drop?  This synch speed is markedly lower that those reported previously by Steve.  Has the modulation changed?

Re: Losing connection

Hi Steve,
Can you please cut and paste the router stats page when you want to provide updates.  The other data is highly relevant.  What is the current Noise Margin please?
With a noise margin of 6dB this line ought to be running at around 18Mbps.  It is well short of that.  At 9dB it ought to be circa 15Mbps.
Something is still far from ideal... but if you are happy where you are...  Wink Cheesy  Deep joy!

Re: Losing connection

So with a 6dB noise margin should I be expecting 18Mbps then?!

Re: Losing connection

Hi Steve,
The "reference" calculator here - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php - indicates what speed might be expected on a reasonable line.
Sometimes though there are other factors which come into play which mean that the expectations are not achieved.  For example the presence of aluminium (instead of decent copper) in the "copper" access network serving your property.  Also smaller than "standard" gauge wires can impact expected performance.
