Hi Guys,
I have just done a test on my line using the BT speedcheck (literally just now) as I noticed my online gaming was lagging a bit and the internet seemed a bit slow. (I am on the Value package at the moment)
"Download speedachieved during the test was - 1692 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7616 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6500 Kbps"
Now isn't 1692Kbps a bit slow or is it because my line speed is limited at all due to being on Value?
Should I upgrade as I play online?
Regards,
Scottie

Welcome to the Forums.
I am not a gamer but I have seen it said that your speed should be OK for gaming. Its just that things do get a bit slow in the evenings

1. Can you check that https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed says that your current line speed is 6500.
2. On all accounts the BT speed test is put in to the highest priority queue so being on Value is not the reason for that result.
3. have you checked the status of your exchange: http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/

Are you connected to your router wired or wireless?
If it's normally wireless I suggest you try a wired test when you next get a slowdown to rule out the possibility of it being something that is affecting your wireless connection.
