Line Speed Dropped

After getting everything sorted last weekend, I had a download speed of 4Mb, with a SNR of 6.0 db. Now my speed has dropped back to 3 Mb, with a SNR of 9.0 db, and a speedtest on BT wholesale is indicating an ip profile of 3.45 Mb.
ADSL Link               Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3574 kbps 444 kbps
Line Attenuation    56.0 db 31.7 db
Noise Margin         9.0 db 20.1 db
How do I get back to the higher speed, do I need to switch of the router for a while and let the signal reset, or do I have to get someone to intervene?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

Your line attenuation is right for the IP profile there (looks like you live a fair distance from your exchange).
Have you looked at your wiring? Is the router connected to the Master Socket? Do you have any extensions?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

All sorted last week, by BT engineer, who fitted a new Openreach master socket. Everything was reset and the banding was removed from the line, pushing the speed up.
I was getting 4Mb with 6 db early in the week, but maybe there has been an effect from a disconnection on Thursday?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

Despite being fixed it looks like the CRC error rate on your line might be higher than the DLM is happy with. So it's increased target SNRM to 9dB to reduce them. What error rates do your stats show?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

I don't know exactly where to look but the router stats say  there have been no errors. I've had to reboot once or twice but other than that there shouldn't be a problem.
Any idea?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

Why have you had to reboot if everything is working OK? It's possible that has upset the DLM.
Leaving things alone for a few days should demonstrate stability and give the DLM scope for reducing target SNRM again.

Re: Line Speed Dropped

Out of interest, if you put your number in here https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/pls/adsl/adslchecker.welcome what speeds does it give for you?

Re: Line Speed Dropped

It says between 2.5 and 4 Mb. As I have shown, it was at 4Mb ok during the week, and at a stable 5.8 to 6.3 Db without any problem. Checking tonight, the speed has dropped down to 2.5Mb, so it is starting to fade away. I've read other posts showing that this has happened to folks, but I hoping it won't go that way with me.
The ip profile, according to BT, has dropped from 4Mbps to 3Mbps, and the upload has dropped a bit too.
I'm hoping it will come back up again if I leave it alone for a few days, but if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

Re: Line Speed Dropped

Hi there,
Doesn't look too bad but it seems interleaving has been removed from your line which has affected the stability for the worse. It should sort itself out within the next couple of days but if it doesn't please give us a shout and we'll put it back on for you, see if that improves things.
