Light the blue touch paper and retire! (0114 numbers)

Our 0114 number..

We are however, looking at implementing non geographic 03xx telephone numbers, which cost the same as calling a geographic one.

I would have hoped that this would have been implemented before moves were made towards retiring the 0114 numbers.

Jelv,
I just wanted to make it clear that we haven't removed that number from service, just removing it from the website itself.

Re: Light the blue touch paper and retire! (0114 numbers)

And I did say "moves were made towards retiring the 0114 numbers". I suspect, as I think many others will, that this is just the first step.
OK - a challenge: Give us an absolute assurance that the 0114 numbers will not be withdrawn before 03xx numbers are made available.

Re: Light the blue touch paper and retire! (0114 numbers)

It's not even the first step either really - after all, once upon a time the 0114 numbers were given equal (perhaps even slightly greater) prominence than the 0845 ones.

Re: Light the blue touch paper and retire! (0114 numbers)

Note to self - add 0114 number to Outlook Contacts for those members who aren't with Plusnet home phone.  Lips_are_sealed
Question - I don't remember being raised.
If I am on the Evenings and Weekend package is the 0845 number free all day or just during the included calls period

Re: Light the blue touch paper and retire! (0114 numbers)

Just tried checking my bill as I am on the legacy 240 and had made a call to the 0845 number, it was shown in the call made as 12 mins, and also on the downloaded CSV, it was only by looking at the itemised call summary that it became clearer that the total of call was 3H 31 but only 3H 19 had been charged and there was a call under other, looking at the details it was the 0845 billed as nil.  So yes it was free, but well hidden.
What about the poor people who are using other means of contact, like me!  I had a complete line failure and could only contact via my mobile,  on which I get 01,02,03 number free from home but have to pay for 0845

HI.  We've said previously that we looked at providing a 03 number and decided not to implement it, preferring to consolidate on the one support number - and making that free for Home Phone customers.  And I've just said now that the 0114 number will remain in service.  I'm not going to give any absolute assurance about our strategy changing at any point in the future.  Cleary what we do going forwards depends on call volumes coming in and how we are managing our resources.
