Laptop wifi connection resets router

Recently changed to plusnet and am finding that every time I connect my laptop to the router it resets it (i.e. lights go off and it seems to reboot).  No problem when connecting with other devices though.  Router is Thomson TG585 v8 with latest firmware (8.2.7.8 )  Seems people have had a similar problem in the past and I've tried the tips suggested elsewhere on this forum (changing power management and disabling 'n' mode) but nothing works.  Could it be a faulty router (http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111317.0.html)?  Any other suggestions gratefully received....

Re: Laptop wifi connection resets router

Considering it's the router that reboots, it's definitely a problem with the router. It may be time for a different router.

Re: Laptop wifi connection resets router

In short, I am betting your laptop is running Windows 8, 8.1 or 10?
See https://woodygems.wordpress.com/2014/11/11/a-fix-for-wifi-andor-lync-drop-outs-in-windows-8-1-and-wi...;     and read the second half, starting at the heading  "Applications dropping out (particularly Lync) when connected to a WiFi network"

Re: Laptop wifi connection resets router

Thanks for this - I am running windows 10 and this is exactly what happens but I've already tried the disabling PnP and changing the power management options (I found it suggested somewhere else) and it still doesn't work!
