Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

I've been with Plusnet for a few years now, just decided to upgrade to Premium and got an email earlier that it was all up and running. Used to get between 4.5mbps - 5.5mbps now it's down to less than 1!
What's that all about?
Can I downgrade again?
Anyone from Plusnet there to point me in the right direction or explain why it's so slow?
Any advice welcome.

If you downgrade, they will leave you on 21CN, but limit your speed to less than 8Mbps Roll_eyes

Almost everyone is suffering from major speed loss, maybe you have the sae problem as everyone else.
No idea what that problem is though

I think that's a bit strong @Addnan, yes there seems to be issues but to say almost everyone is suffering major speed loss I'm not so sure.
@luke1973 I'm not sure with 21CN switch whether you go into the training period again which may account for some speed loss. If you can post your router stats it might help.

I'm just saying from the threads I have read. Maybe I got the wording wrong, my bad.

Re:Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

Hi Luke,
Being on 21C with a speed restriction of 8Mbps shouldn't be an issue.  In fact it's performing better than those are seeing on our IPStream service currently, due to their being a relatively greater amount of bandwidth available.

Re: Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Just wondered if you had any idea why my new 'upgrade' is so much slower?
Also, what product would you recommend for a decent speed?
Cheers

Your order to move to 21CN only completed today. Can you reboot and then let us know what the stats from your router are?

Ah, does that mean the speed will improve? Im a bit of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff. Do I need a new router?
Apologies for the stupid questions.

Re:Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

No need to apologise!
There's a ten day training period once you've moved over to ADSL2/2+.  Hopefully you'll see a gradual improvement during that period.

Re: Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

Is there a 21CN problem?
My connection feels sluggish - but I have no figures to back that up.
Speed tests perform as normal.

Hi,
Are you seeing problems on anything in particular? We have plenty of bandwidth available, and there aren't widespread reports of issues.

Re: Just upgraded to Premium - speed appalling

No special problems! Smiley
My ADSL2 is slower than ADSL1 in one sense - but
upstream + downstream has remained unchanged (ADSL2 gives more upstream).
Various web sites - including BBC take a couple of seconds or so extra to load.
I'm on BBYW3, so I would expect reasonably consistent performance.
