Re: Just had a hour outage (Weds 26 March - 19.45 - 20.45) was it just me, MK area

Thank you Jim. I was responding to a request from AndyH in respect of difficulties in the last 24 hours.
Re. my upstream.....
Whom should I ask, and just for my information, why?
Edit. Also..... should I be worried if someone from Colombia is trying to ping my router as AndyH believes is happening.

@ anotherbob - When you say you were cut off, did you mean you lost wireless connectivity to your router? Your router stats show you've been connected  to the internet for 14 hrs 40 mins.

Having a higher upstream is just nice - it will about double - for sending emails etc.
If it isn't picked up here you could raise a ticket https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=wizard&page=22883&wizard_id=38
Regarding pings - I wouldn't bother I get them all the time
@AndyH - he was cut off as the IP address changed

Re: Just had a hour outage (Weds 26 March - 19.45 - 20.45) was it just me, MK area

What I meant was that I could not connect to the Internet.
Last evening I had to restart my router to regain access, and this morning I was able to regain access simply by clicking DISCONNECT and then CONNECT. In the event log I see a number of these (3 this morning)
PPP link down (Internet) [46.208.64.6]
Two odd things I have noticed (among other I may not have noticed)....
When the connection to the Internet drops so I can't see webpages, my Logitech Touch is somehow able to continue to play internet radio through mysqueezebox.com (May be this is the buffer playing?)
If I let windows diagnostics investigate the problem it tells me my computer is properly configured and maybe there is a problem at the address I'm trying to reach (eg BBC.co.uk)
All very odd.

It will probably just be a hijacked machine at the other end searching for other machines to hijack - I get loads of these every day.

If you'd like your upstream uncapping, let me know and I'll get that sorted for you.

They did, our oncall engineers were notified pretty sharpish. Unfortunately it took us a while to get the status feed updated Undecided

I think as soon as a major networking issue like that happens (even outside of office hours), one of the first things that should be done is that someone updates the status feed and puts something on Twitter.

That's the intention. We failed to deliver on this last night though, sorry.

Re: Just had a hour outage (Weds 26 March - 19.45 - 20.45) was it just me, MK area

I'd like to establish if the problems I'm having are due to the outage reported in the Service Status or if they are unique to my own service or setup.
I've had to disconnect/reconnect three times since my first post in this thread.
I don't know if it helps anyone advise me but this is my router event log for the last few minutes.

Re: Just had a hour outage (Weds 26 March - 19.45 - 20.45) was it just me, MK area

The thing which stands out - other than an unusual Plusnet IP address 31.** - is that your router isn't losing sync but is losing internet
I have no idea why
Do you have a different router you can try
Just spotted this

I have never seen that on my router log so I wonder if that is something to do with it

Jim, thanks for your response.
I do have another router, but it's the one that was replaced last week after experiencing this kind of problem for a while.
I spent some time on the phone to a PlusNet agent and as a result the router was replaced. However it does not seem to have resolved the problem.

Re: Just had a hour outage (Weds 26 March - 19.45 - 20.45) was it just me, MK area

That can happen when there's a problem with the BRAS or maintenance work is done - you can remain connected still to the exchange, but lose internet connectivity/connection to Plusnet.
Where about's in the country are you? Your BRAS appears to be 21CN-BRAS-RED6-MR-DH

I have seen this quite often, when the connection drops, as can be seen in my support thread(s)
It seems that your not finding it's trigger on your line Cheesy Roll_eyes
From what I have seen so far, I do not think it is anything to be concerned about.
