Re: Is there a problem on the Plusnet network?

Having been having site issues since around 9pm last night.  Various sites wouldn't load or very slowly eg http://forums.anarchy-online.com/ http://www.channel5.com/ http://www.whophonedme.co.uk/ but there is transit host work tonight so might be related

Im in the same boat, cant lookup any google service and other sites take up to 30secs to load. Its not just this network others are reporting the same on different ISP's.

CSC have fielded a few complaints about Google and there's been murmurings on Twitter too - I suspect something external to our network though.

Looking at the graphs at http://www.plus.net/support/service/network_performance/broadband_bandwidth_usage.shtml - there's a bit of a drop, thn-ag1, thn-ag2, thn-ag3 all say 0 users connected since about 15:30, but that could just be problems with the graphing, most of those graphs are no longer much use. I was on thn-ag1 earlier, but not anymore.

I saw this on the internal graphing earlier. I think it's a reporting issue given the characteristics although I'll double check tomorrow...

Doubt it's that unless it's started early?

Right, I think I'm going to have to stand corrected on this one! Embarrassed
I'm now of the opinion that the problems might have been something to do with our network! See the attached graphing that shows Google traffic passing across one of our network interfaces. Notice the blip between 9.30pm-11.30pm'ish (which seems to coincide with when problems were being reported). I've retrospectively raised an internal problem to have somebody look into this (ref: 69541).

I was right with this one. We switched off monitoring for three of the edge routers in preparation of this work. It's since been switched back on.

.
The problems will have effected any Google-hosted content which will have included things like YouTube, Google's search engine, GMail and any websites reliant on Google Analytics/Adverts etc. They didn't affect everybody.
