Is it my router?

It seems ok, the lights are on and flashing but no connection since Saturday. I have started a check but any ideas?

Re: Is it my router?

What make/model of router and what lights are on/flashing and what colours?
Does this change if you turn the PC on?
(Lights are usually static if you're doing nothing)

Re: Is it my router?

it's a ADSLANNEX-A (SWEEX ESSENTIALS)
The lights are red, flashing ready. I will have to go back home to check whether it changes when computer goes on.

Re: Is it my router?

Personally I've never seen one of those, hopefully someone else has.
Have you checked the manual as to what the lights mean, red is often a problem....

Re: Is it my router?

Hi Brenda,
You are connected to the internet, but at a really, really slow speed, so it may seem like the connection isn't even there.
Do you have a spare microfilter that you could try plugging into your master socket and then plug the router into that to see if you notice any improvement?

Re: Is it my router?

I am sure that the lights are always red on
TP4 ADSL RDY and PWR. The manuel does not give any help on this.
Yes I think it is the same router, but mine is probably an older model.
I changed the microfilter and removed the phone socket.
I can't see how I am connected when my search page does not come up, just a blank white one. Sorry I am not very knowledgeable  Embarrassed

Re: Is it my router?

Hi Brenda,
What do you mean when you say that you removed the phone socket?  The ideal broadband set up is like this:
Mstr socket ------ Microfilter ----- Broadband Router
                                        ----- Telephone
Let me know Smiley

Re: Is it my router?

Yes that's my set up. I pulled the phone out as instructed in the check.

Re: Is it my router?

Have you tried removing the power cable from your router and then reinserting it after about 30 seconds or so?

Re: Is it my router?

Yes I have tried that and switching it off at the on/off botton and leaving it for 15 seconds

Re: Is it my router?

Thanks Brenda.
Your router is definitely connecting to the internet - we can see that from this end.
Could you possibly try disabling any antivirus or firewall software that you use temporarily to see if you are then able to view any webpages?
I'd also recommend giving Tech Support a ring as these issues can be a little tricky to fix and less confusing if someone can talk you through things rather than going through forum posts.
