Is a 90 Kb/s upload speed the best I can expect?

Hi.

  • Is a 90 Kb/s upload speed the best I can expect?

Why so much slower than the download speed I can get of c.650 Kb/s?

Thanks,

CrVMo

Hi there, no it looks like you should be able to achieve more. I've added ticket 157691774 to your account to let you know the exact upstream estimate.

Were you connecting over LAN or WiFi when you saw that speed?

Re: Is a 90 Kb/s upload speed the best I can expect?

Given that the post is in the non fibre board and that the units are probably kB/s the effective speeds would be 5200kb/s down and 720kb/s up so my first thought is that interleaving has been applied which would limit the upstream sync speed to 888kb/s and this would tie in with the results reported

The upstream sync is at 1135kbps

Can you run a speed test at www.speedtest.btwholesale.com and post up the results?

Fix
From that test result it looks like you are getting the maximum possible upload speed for your service.

Sorry for the disappointment CrVMo

To answer your second question:

Why so much slower than the download speed I can get of c.650 Kb/s?

The way broadband works is that it's asymmetrical which basically means the upstream is always less than the downstream.

Have you considered upgrading to fibre broadband?

Your estimates for the upload are 8.7mbps to 13.4mbps so quite a big jump.
