Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Hi Paul
I will certainly look into ADSL Max.  I am a bit of a distance from the exchange
and the lines around here are all old stuff as I live in the sticks.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Hi Soulsville,
Also your stats didn't show any times/durations/connect times to try and establish if you'd lost sync. If you can find that page, that'll help. If the particular page doesn't show "current date/time", make sure when you post that you say what date/time you read the page.
Taking Paul's comment, you might be lucky and get 4 or 5M out of your line!
Edit: Hi HP, just seen you there.

But regular disconnections, mixed with ADSL Max, is a recipe for disaster on the IP Profile front!  Sad

Data rate 1152  288
Noise margin 24.6  28.0

Output power 17.3  11.8

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Without a "line-up time" it will be difficult to nail this.

It's NOT been established that SYNC has been lost yet. PN did have a problem affecting some customes (see Service Status), but it was not established beyond doubt whether this was or was not the cause.
Perhaps someone who knows this router can say how to get the "line-up time" info.
PS. Don't switch the router off, otherwise line up time will only be available from the last switch on.
Another thought worth double checking, at the "disconnect" you don't have any crackling on your phone line do you? or crackling at any other time?

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

@Soulsville
Are PN raising your fault up to BT now that you've checked at the test socket?
One thing that you haven't said though unless I've missed it - when you tested at the test socket, did you have the router connected directly without any extension cables?  If you have any extensions connected it's important that they are also removed and taken out of the equation.
Edit:  Just noticed Anotherone's post.
To check for crackling or noise you need to connect a standard (corded) handset to the test socket (do not connect the router) and dial 17070 then select option 2 - Quiet Line Test.  Listen for any crackling, buzzing, etc.  It's important to use a corded phone as cordless phones can introduce interference that's nothing to do with the line.
If there is noise you'll need to raise this as a VOICE fault (don't mention broadband) with BT or whoever you pay line rental to.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

I have tested the router via a direct input to the test socket overnight and still
I was getting cut off.
I have a proper BT installed face plate with filter built in with a socket for my router
and seperate socket for my phone
I don't have any extensions on my router which is a
Belkin F5D7633-4Av1_UK_1.00.11
There are no crackles on the line either

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Ideally a last test would be to try another router if you have one available.
If not, I would certainly raise this as a fault with Plusnet.

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

To add to Barry's comment, PN will supply a router to test with if you can't get your hands on one.  (I think that they'll ask you to test with another router or modem before getting BT involved, again to preclude the possibility of a £169 charge if it's your router that's faulty).

Re: Is Anybody getting problems with Broadband Connectivity

Hi Everybody
A quick update.
i have been away on holiday and I still got the same problems with loss of service many times through 24 hours.
I have changed my router to a brand new Linksys and I am still getting the problem.
I have done the master socket test and have not changed any wiring or other things
Plusnet had set up a review of my situation for 9.00 am this morning wednesday
So what have Plusnet done  NOTHING  they have ignored my input to my open question
Plusnet have ignored their own review time also
How can Plusnet tell us they are the best ISP and they can't or will not help me with this on going
situation
If Someone who reads this is on Plusnet's staff  Could you please help as this has been going on since 7July 2008
I am fed up
