Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

The filter and the broadband connector should go into the filter via a connector like this

Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

that cable is up stairs , the only cable downstairs to put into a test socket is the one with all the wires all over the place

Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

Why can't you take the cable which connects the router upstairs downstairs and use it

Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

Here is the bad news - in order to check the line using the test socket you will either need to move the computer downstairs or get a very long cable to connect the router to the PC

Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

Because the extensions are connected to the back of the master socket face plate the extensions in the house are disconnected. You then connect your router to the test socket which means you will also have to take your PC downstairs or use a long ethernet cable (unless you have wireless) for the purposes of the testing.
This totally eliminates your internal wiring - if you still get the same problems JoJo will happily get a BT engineer out.
If you don't get problems it means there is a problem with your internal wiring and JoJo won't call out an engineer as it would almost certainly cost you over £100. If this is the case there are some more tests to be done and there options we can discuss on how to proceed.
Edit: Your laptop will be fine. We want to see the router stats when you are connected to the test socket for a start.

Re: Internet goes on and off every 5 mins

Indeed you can.
The idea is to connect it the router to the test socket and report the full stats and then get JoJo to run the tests they need.
Then leave it down there as long as possible and see if it holds sync
