Inconsistent IP profiles - how long does alignment typically take?

Hi,
With a sync speed of 6976 Kbps my IP profile at BT's end increased to 6000 Kbps a few days ago however Plusnet's 'current line speed' is still showing as 4.5 Mbps. Assuming the profile figures at each end of the line are meant to be aligned does anyone know how long this typically takes?

1 to 2 days and sometimes never (it gets stuck @ plusnets end).
If it has not changed after 2 days raise a ticket / ring support and get it investigated.

Hmm... I've just received the following response to my ticket:

Thank you for getting in touch. Our test indicates that your line currently supports an estimated
ADSL broadband line speed of 3Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 2Mbps and 5.5Mbps.
As you may know, your internet connection has recently been very intermittent. This also causes your
speed to decrease.

I'm not sure why they are talking about speed variations as my ticket was about the IP profile mismatch. Am I right to infer from this response that the IP Profile mismatch is therefore irrelevant and should not be of concern to me?

Hi Mathew,
I've just amended the ticket and applied the change to 6000k at our end. I'm not sure what the agent was reading there and I will feedback about that. Apologies for the confusion.
