Re: Impatient for broadband activation!

im guessing the output power being 0 is just a bug in the router firmware. so no.
What is your profile at plusnets end? (im guessing this is where the bottleneck is)
See here

Oh I see. It says:
Estimated line speed:
    2.0 - Checked on 2010-06-08 11:56:20
Current line speed:
    7150

Re: Impatient for broadband activation!

Yes, that means the PN profile is set to 7150,
Fingers crossed it will either increase itself, or one of the PN staffers will give it a prod in the morning Smiley

Hi ilford,
Just synchronised the account, all in order now, you should see improvement there now.

Re: Impatient for broadband activation!

Thanks  Wink
Can I also ask another thing? The line is consistently synching at 16,000, but Plusnet has set the linespeed at 13,000 even though the noise margin, output power and attenuation are fine.
When I was on the "upto 8Mb" product, I was getting 6,000 i.e. 25% less than maximum advertised.
But on the "upto 20Mb" product, I'm getting 13,000 i.e. 35% less than maximum advertised.
What do I have to do to get more speed?!  Grin

Re: Impatient for broadband activation!

plusnet set their profiles based on our supplier's profile. This is currently 13000, so even if we put it up to 16000 it wouldn't make any difference. Their profile will lift once you consistently sync at a certain rate; see here for what you can expect http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/broadband_terminology.shtml#dataRate
this morning at 06:49 a sync rate of 14752 was recorded which is consistent with your current 13000 profile.
